If you were to ask me about my favorite breakfast foods on any given day, I would almost always skew savory over sweet. For someone who bakes at least once a week, I have almost no sweet tooth—when I bake, I usually eat one of whatever I make and give the rest away to friends and family. So when it comes to breakfast, I’d pick a frittata, a slice of quiche, or a good ol’ fashioned plate of (turkey) bacon and eggs over pancakes, waffles, or French toast. But sometimes… Sometimes I get an insatiable craving for those sweet breakfast standbys, and nothing else will do. Enter this Bananas Foster French Toast.
Oh, where to begin? I said I was taking a couple weeks off, and it ended up being more like a couple months. And those couple months have been quite the whirlwind, to say the least. I won’t take all day to belabor every detail here, but here’s the abbreviated version: Life got in the way.
I’m going to disclose something to you and you have to promise not to judge me, ok? I’ve never liked slushies. Not even when I was little. Everyone freaks out on bring your own cup day at 7/11, and I just, like… don’t care. I’ve never had much of a sweet tooth, and slushies just seem like gross, artificially colored sugar bombs. But there is one way to get me to like slushies, and I think you know what it is.
So I’ve decided that, due to the nature of my blog name, Fridays will now be cocktail days here on Feelin’ Whisky. Because I’ve got a shiny cocktail shaker that’s going to start collecting dust otherwise, and also, ya know, because cocktails. I hope you’re all okay with this change. (I’m pretty sure you are.) So! Let’s get shakin’. Or something. Anyway.
Being able to make a good cocktail is one of the most lucrative skills out there, in my opinion. It’s really similar to cooking in a lot of ways—you take what you have, and you throw it together in a way that you think will make people happy. More often than not, if you have a general idea of what you’re doing, you’ll be successful. This recipe was one such success. I can’t wait to make and share more cocktail recipes here!
